Highlights from the 12th ACPACC Meeting

The Twelfth Meeting of the ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant Coordinating Committee (12th ACPACC) was held on 19th June 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, back-to-back with the Business Services Sectoral Working Group (BSSWG). The meeting was chaired by Dr. Teerachai Arunruangsirilert, Chairman of Accounting Profession in Development Subcommittee, Federation of Accounting Professions, Thailand, and co-facilitated by Ms. Cyndi Natalia, the Head of the ACPACC Secretariat. Representatives of all ASEAN Member States (AMS), and a staff member of the ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting.

The ACPACC meeting was successfully supported by the Malaysia Ministry of International Trade and Industry and ASEAN Secretariat. In line with roadmap of the roadmap of Mutual recognition on Accountancy Services, the meeting was highlighting the commitment of finalizing the decisions related to registration of RFPAs, including the fees to facilitate the mobility of accountants. Another essential issue that was rise during the event was the updates of our new website address from www.acpacc.org to www.aseancpa.org. Additionally, the ACPACC Chairmanship will be rotated to Viet Nam starting from the next meeting, October 2019.

Prior to the ACPACC 12th meeting on the 18th June 2019, all of the ACPACC member attending the ASEAN CPA Stakeholder Engagement event which was organised by Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). This session also provides the participants (ASEAN CPAs) with insight into the ASEAN MRA on Accountancy Services. The event was moderated by the Chairman of ACPACC who was presenting some updates of ASEAN CPA and also opportunities in the region. The guest speaker of the panel is from Ernst & Young, CIMB Bank, the American Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and also the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
